No counter-pressure or partial counter-pressure on a Meyer filler
Every counter-pressure fill starts with the bottle sealed against the valve and brought up to bowl pressure. If that does not happen, or only partly happens, the bottle fills too fast, foams and comes out low. These are the causes we check first.
No counter-pressure in the bottle
Likely cause
What to do
Charging valve not opening: bent or binding outside valve lever or lever shaft
Lubricate the lever shaft and replace bent levers or shafts.
Mechanical latch set wrong
Set the latch so the outside lever turns fully against its stop.
Blocked vent tube
Clean the vent tube.
Bottle not sealing because the lift is sluggish
Check the lift air supply, lines and cylinders for leaks or blockage; clean and lubricate the cylinders.
Debris on the sealing rubber
Clean the sealing rubber.
Bottle not centered on the rubber: worn wear plates, grippers, infeed guide or star, or infeed star timing
Replace worn parts and re-time the infeed star to the filler.
Broken snift valve spring
Replace the spring.
Partial counter-pressure
Likely cause
What to do
Cut or damaged sealing rubber
Replace the sealing rubber.
Leaking snift valve
Replace the snift seat and check the spring.
Partly blocked vent tube
Clean the vent tube.
